My boyfriend and I stayed at the Nutmeg cabin for a few days to visit the caves. The cabin was perfect for two people. It was clean, comfortable and totally adorable. We loved it. It had everything we needed for a perfect mini vacation. We made s'mores, caught toads and didn't miss the hockey game. Perfection. The Hickory Cabins staff was friendly, helpful and all-around wonderful to deal with. Stay at Nutmeg. You won't regret it.
Thank you, We are glad that you enjoyed your stay with us.
My husband and I had a wonderful time cooking, playing Wii U, enjoying the beautiful property. It was perfect and very well maintained. Thank you for sharing it with us.
We are glad that you enjoyed your stay with us.
My wife and our two kids loved staying in the hickory cabin. The loft was so much fun for the kids. We enjoyed spending quality time together on your farm. We lit two campfires and cooked smores. The area is very quiet and peaceful.
We are pleased that you enjoyed your visit with us.
It was a great place
The Big Leaf cabin provided a great resting spot during our first Mammoth Cave experience. Our girls loved the loft, while my husband, his parents and I were all impressed with the beauty and coziness of the cabin. Your place has been moved to the top of our must visit again list. We're looking forward to visiting again in the future.
Stayed in nutmeg cabin with wife and daughter. Check-in at office was easy and owner was extremely helpful with suggestions and directions. Cabin was in excellent condition and met all of our basic needs. Conveniently located near North entrance to Mammoth Cave National Park. Would definitely stay again if in area.
My boyfriend and I wanted a nice and quiet weekend away and staying in Nutmeg we got it! Nestled nicely in the woods this cozy little cabin is absolutely perfect for 2 people. It has all you need for a nice weekend and was kept so nice and clean. The pictures of this cabin do not even capture its charm!
We were close enough to the park and Cave City that we enjoyed a tour and then a few trips into the town itself to shop some of the tourist shops.
One night we built a fire in the fire pit and could hear coyotes howling in the background while we made s'mores. Me being a city girl had never heard that in real life and I thought it was pretty cool. My only suggestion is to be sure you have some bug spray if you are going to sit outside, the mosquitoes were pretty thick the night we sat out there.
There were great food suggestions made from Mr. Hayes and we thoroughly enjoyed The Hilltop Restaurant and El Mazatlan in Cave City. Mr. Hayes knows the area and can make great suggestions as well as being very nice!
I can say we will be returning sometime and hope to get into Nutmeg again to enjoy the quaintness of the cabin. If you get a chance then you should certainly check this place out, the rates are reasonable and you are guaranteed a good weekend! Thank you so much!
We were looking for a secluded, quiet get a way for a few days and Hickory Haven fit the bill. Of all of the places we have stayed, this is the most private. We did not hear or see any other people. We did see some bats in the eaves of the porch. And as we were leaving, we caught a glimpse of the wild turkeys. During our stay, we enjoyed the Onyx tour by lantern and a few trail hikes. There were a couple of things that would have been handy for our stay: a box fan and a blender, but we managed. Thanks for a wonderful stay. We will recommend this little gem to our friends and family.
My kids and I do a December "cabin trip" every year; since they were 3 years old. Each year we try a new destination. We visited with the Hickory Cabins folks back in Dec 2012. Everything was awesome. My kids still talk about "the cabin with the ladder to the bed." We have been talking about what we wan to do for our Dec 2016 trip. On the previous trip if was just me and two kids. Now, the youngest (4 yo) has started joining us on these trips. When I asked the kids if they want to do a new destination this year, or go back to one of the previous places, at this point, it is starting to look like the votes are leaning towards Mammoth Cave and the Hickory Cabins again. Dinosaur World might be the biggest reason, but the cabin with the ladder is definitely part of the reason why the kids want to do this destination again.
Thank you, I'm glad your children enjoy these special "cabin trips". 🙂
We had a great time. The cabin was great, everything was neat and clean. Frank and Richard go out of their way to help you enjoy your stay. Information on the area, places to stay and eat. If we come back to the area we will stay at Hickory Cabins again
